Cohesion helped Twenty One Pilots turn their world tour into a globe-shaking spectacle – one sub drop at a time
In support of their genre-smashing seventh hit album Clancy, Twenty One Pilots launched their most expansive tour yet. Debuting last August, The Clancy World Tour covered four continents, all with the help of Cohesion, which was the chosen PA for this ambitious project.
The Clancy World Tour was designed to electrify the senses by incorporating a massive number of visuals, pyro, cryo and lasers into the show. Therefore, this event needed a consistent and robust PA that would deliver sonic impact every night.
Kenny Sellars, the FOH engineer for the project, saw the tour as an experience. “We have insane sub drops, fire, magic tricks – you name it,” Sellars explained. “Our show is a full-body feeling.”
Consistency and reliability played a key role in the selection of Cohesion for the tour. This PA system could deliver a clear sound even with artists moving through the audience and surprising fans with new arrangements.
Clair Global deployed a Cohesion system built around CO12s for the main and side hangs. CO10s were then used for 270° coverage and lighter rigs. CP218 II+ subs were flown behind the mains and stacked in front, with extra CP118+ units at FOH and behind the drum riser for added control.
Onstage, CF10s covered the wings and CF28s handled front fill – mounted on sub stacks for efficiency and a clean stage. The compact CF28s delivered powerful, balanced output without needing heavy EQ, even during the show’s quieter vocal moments.
