Cohesion technology successfully powered Cage the Elephant’s 2024 “Neon Pill” tour, delivering immersive sound to sold-out crowds across North America
The American rock band Cage the Elephant concluded their ambitious Neon Pill tour, which saw them crisscross the North American continent. The Grammy-winning Kentucky sextet was supported by Cohesion PA at every single venue and sold more than 440,000 tickets during their run.
Cage the Elephant played hits from across their six albums including the chart-topping song “Rainbow”. Crowds were able to enjoy this music thanks to Cohesion’s audio and deployment versatility.
“Cohesion was revealing. It was consistent and punchy. You heard things you wouldn’t necessarily have heard from another system. I was very pleased with it,” said Ashton Parsons, FOH engineer.
Eighth Day Sound, a Clair Global brand, deployed the PA throughout the tour. Although the setup varied for each venue, Cohesion CO12 arrays were often hung on either side of the stage and supplemented by Cohesion CO10 arrays. Cohesion CP218 II+ devices were flown behind each main hang and were further helped by subwoofers on the ground.
“The trick was to align with the mains,” said Jon Halliwell, system engineer. “There was no one perfect alignment – I listened and walked to find the best time solution each day.” The versatility of Cohesion technology made this reconfiguration possible.
“What I found amazing was the ability to cover any venue. The PA was a great choice for this artist,” continued Halliwell.
The Cohesion PA selected for the 14-week arena and amphitheatre tour not only provided the necessary power and coverage for such a wide range of venues, but it also did so in a production-friendly pack. Parsons said, “It transported well and was easy to put together without a lot of fuss.”
Ultimately, the PA needed to reflect the band’s musicality and rock style – a challenge that Cohesion lived up to. This technology continues to redefine live music, in the same way that the band Glass Animals are making an impact by using AV to support their recent concerts.
