Karol G'sTour Shines with Elation

Karol G’s groundbreaking “Mañana Será Bonito” tour wowed fans worldwide with stunning lighting from Elation PROTEUS, setting new benchmarks for Latin music tours

Colombian superstar Karol G recently wrapped up her historic “Mañana Será Bonito” world tour with a series of spectacular stadium shows in Madrid, marking a triumphant end to a year-long journey that set multiple records. From the United States and Latin America to the massive venues of Europe, the tour was the first-ever stadium tour headlined by a Latin female artist. It also became the largest European tour ever by a Latin artist.

The tour’s remarkable visual experience was designed by Ignacio Rosenberg, Senior Director of Lightswitch, in collaboration with lighting vendor PRG. At the heart of this captivating production were Elation’s PROTEUS luminaires, chosen for their durability and versatility in handling challenging outdoor environments, especially across South America.

The tour’s lighting played a critical role in immersing the audience in the powerful narrative of Karol G’s journey. Using Elation’s PROTEUS MAXIMUS and PROTEUS HYBRID MAX, Rosenberg ensured the lighting design was not only robust enough to withstand unpredictable weather conditions but also delivered the performance needed for the large-scale, multi-venue tour. “We needed consistency and power,” Rosenberg explained, noting that the fixtures’ IP-rated durability was essential for the outdoor stadiums and arenas where the shows took place.

Karol G’s tour was more than a series of concerts; it was a visual journey that reflected her rise in the music industry. Rosenberg’s lighting design echoed this narrative in three chapters, each filled with emotion and transformation. The story began with the character of Karolina the Mermaid, symbolised by calming blue lights. As the show progressed, vibrant magentas, pinks, and whites highlighted Karol G’s evolution into “La Bichota.” The final chapter, “Mañana Será Bonito” (Tomorrow Will Be Beautiful), was an explosion of colour, celebrating the tour’s uplifting message.

Despite the tour’s massive scale, Karol G and Rosenberg were committed to maintaining a sense of intimacy between the artist and her fans. Lighting played a key role in this connection. By illuminating the audience, the lighting design made concertgoers feel like they were part of the show, rather than just watching it. “It’s really a 3D show in terms of the audience being in the midst of it,” said Rosenberg, emphasising Karol G’s passion for making each fan feel included.

Transitioning between massive stadiums and smaller arenas posed a challenge for the production team, but the PROTEUS fixtures made this process smoother. The design team reconfigured the stage and lighting setup for each venue while keeping the essence of the show intact. “We didn’t need to reinvent the wheel,” Rosenberg noted, praising the versatile PROTEUS HYBRID MAX for its ability to deliver a consistent performance across different setups.

The tour culminated with four sold-out shows at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, where additional PROTEUS EXCALIBUR fixtures were deployed to enhance the live-stream broadcasts. These powerful lights cut through the complex LED and IMAG setups, ensuring every camera angle captured the magic on stage.

The result was a dazzling visual experience that captivated audiences worldwide, showcasing Karol G’s incredible talent and Rosenberg’s innovative lighting design.

The “Mañana Será Bonito” tour made history at nearly every stop. From its record-breaking success in Latin America to its unprecedented reach in Europe, the tour set new standards for Latin music on the global stage. With the help of Elation PROTEUS fixtures, Karol G’s dreamlike vision came to life, creating a truly immersive and unforgettable experience for millions of fans.

Elation is proud to have contributed to the groundbreaking success of this historic tour, supporting a talented production team that pushed the boundaries of live performance lighting.
