Award-winning filmmaker and activist Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy revealed as opening keynote speaker for ISE 2024




The opening keynote speaker for ISE 2024 is the esteemed Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a multi-award-winning journalist and Emmy-winning filmmaker.


Notable works include Academy Award-winning documentary shorts like Saving Face and A Girl In The River: The Price Of Forgiveness. Sharmeen’s unique storytelling perspective resonates within the audiovisual industry.


Her storytelling skills have a significant impact, influencing various aspects of the audiovisual landscape, from immersive experiences to corporate presentations and digital signage campaigns. ISE managing director Mike Blackman has expressed enthusiasm about Sharmeen’s role as the opening keynote speaker, acknowledging her as a trailblazer and innovator with a substantial positive impact on the industry.


Beyond her cinematic achievements, Sharmeen has played a pivotal role in societal change, engaging with influential figures and contributing to significant legislative upheaval.


Sharmeen has made a contribution to the Marvel Universe, directing episodes of the critically acclaimed series Ms Marvel. Notably, she is set to make history as the first woman to direct a Star Wars film, scheduled for release in 2026.
