Sound solutions are being found in sacred spaces; such is the case in the Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida in Brazil which is enhancing its communications with Clear-Com and Savana Comunicações
One of the most iconic religious landmarks in Brazil, the Basilica of Our Lady of Aparecida, has completed a significant upgrade to its infrastructure to ensure real-time communication across its vast campus. With the help of Clear-Com and Savana Comunicação, this partnership is using a hybrid of wired, wireless and IP-based intercom systems.
The Basilica, known for welcoming millions of patrons annually, has steadily expanded its Clear-Com system. The upgrade began with a straightforward setup featuring an Eclipse Pico digital matrix intercom, V-Series Iris panels and wireless intercom systems. Over the years, this has evolved into an IP-based communication network designed to support the future of live production.
Recently, the Basilica has upgraded to the FreeSpeak digital wireless intercom system, now operating approximately 35 FreeSpeak II beltpacks throughout its facilities. Additionally, this religious space has transitioned to an Eclipse Delta matrix for improved workflow flexibility and user experience. The implementation of a Clear-Com ProGrid fibre-based infrastructure also allows for scalable, low-latency signal distribution.
The next phase of this communications evolution aims to migrate all analogue panels and E1-connected antennas to fully IP-based solutions. With a forward-thinking roadmap and strong technology partnerships, this venue demonstrates how broadcasters can scale and modernise operations with Clear-Com.
