Powering The Red Clay Strays “Get Right” Tour
The Red Clay Strays toured America last summer and fall with dozens of sold-out amphitheaters cheering on their irresistible blend of Southern rock, country, and blues.

EM Acoustics elevates sound across all three theatres at the Theatre Royal Plymouth
Theatre Royal Plymouth (TRP) hosts a range of performances, including touring musicals, dance productions, comedy and drama. Within TRP, The Lyric Theatre recently upgraded its ageing sound system with EM Acoustics.
The theatre features a versatile space with variable seating capacity, thanks to the it’s unique moving roof and irregular design. However, the architecture presented challenges for sound installation.
After successfully using EM Acoustics in its smaller auditoriums, including the 200-seat Drum Theatre and the 50-seat Lab, TRP decided to replace the 30-year-old Lyric sound system with the same brand.
“We’ve always had a great relationship with them, and the upgrade to EM for the Lyric just made sense,” said Dan Mitcham, head of sound at TRP. “We knew what their products were capable of.”
Mitcham and the team designed a configuration to ensure the delivery of clear, even sound coverage throughout the auditorium.
The setup now includes R10 loudspeakers across all three levels, a centre cluster of R8s and S18 subwoofers for low frequencies. The team also installed more speakers for side fills, delays and upper-level coverage.
Four MC15 floor monitors, plus four EMS81X spot speakers for special effects complete the system. Additionally, five DQ10 and five DQ6 amplifiers, all networked via Dante, provide a future-proofed solution.

Loudspeakers throughout TRP can be used across the three stages, adding invaluable adaptability
The new sound system improves audio quality and flexibility. “We’ve had minimal need for EQ adjustments for the physical system element, meaning we can spend more time refining the performance characteristics, enhancing what the audience hears, so it’s made our jobs much easier,” commented Mitcham.
Visiting productions also appreciated the upgrade. Mitcham added, “The fact that it's Dante-enabled means they don’t have to worry about complex setups.”
Ultimately, this renovation has ensured consistency across all three stages at TRP, making it a fully EM Acoustics-powered venue.
Renowned in the audio industry, EM Acoustics has also enhanced productions at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in London.
