DiGiCo Quantum 7s has made life easier for engineers on Gary Barlow’s 2025 tour, ensuring a consistent mix across every venue

The Songbook Tour 2025 saw Take That member Gary Barlow travel the length and breadth of the UK and Ireland. Each venue had a different size and style, so having a constant and reliable mixing console was a necessity for engineers. The solution came in the form of two DiGiCo Quantum 7s.

This technology was chosen for its intuitive workflow and responsiveness. Luigi Buccarello, front of house engineer, said, “You never need to press more than a button to get where you need to, which makes it very fast to use. It’s extremely clear to look at, which lets you focus on the mix. I also find the extra bank of faders in the middle section very useful.”

There are approximately 50 input channels coming from the stage, with spares, reverb returns and talk mics adding to the channel count. Additionally, there are backing vocalists and brass players and tech mixes to contend with. Utilising DMI-KLANG directly via the console means engineers can facilitate the full spectrum of mixes without moving from the console.

The ability to share stage racks between the two DiGiCo Quantum 7 consoles not only reduced the amount of gear required but also saved valuable truck space – a critical advantage on the tour.

Buccarello concluded by enthusing about the help that DiGiCo provided during the tour. “You always feel supported and looked after anywhere around the world, whether you have a technical enquiry, need prep time on a board, or you just want to test new products.”

It's not only Gary Barlow who is using DiGiCo to bring tours to life. Portugal-based Calema have also been making use of this technology to fill huge stadiums.
