Electric automaker BYD is delivering immersive experiences using Christie’s Inspire Series 1DLP laser projectors. BYD’s new energy vehicle museum in Zhengzhou marks the first of its kind in China.
Known as BYD Zhengzhou Di Space, this 15,000-square-metre complex showcases the technology behind new energy vehicles. The four-floor museum includes a range of themed areas, displaying over 300 exhibits focusing on the interplay between science and innovation, BYD’s automotive vision and the potential of new energy in shaping future mobility.
Christie’s China-based partner Jianye Display has helped with the installation and commission of the projectors used to create lifelike imagery within the facility. A total of 26 Christie’s DWU860-iS laser projectors have been employed to create vibrant exhibits such as the second-floor 'ribbon space'.

Features like WUXGA or 4K UHD resolution have made the Christie Inspire Series projectors a suitable option for Yong Hong, project manager at Jianye Display. “Our choice of the Christie Inspire Series projectors for Di Space is driven by their exceptional quality and reliability,” says Hong. “These 8,500-lumen projectors consistently deliver astonishingly vivid visuals that delight and engage visitors in every exhibit.”
To achieve visually impactful experiences, the Inspire Series laser projectors also offer other key features such as the versatility of a fixed motorised zoom lens and IP5X dust-resistance optical engines. These capabilities, along with innovative solutions like manually aligning projection angles, have helped address site-specific challenges at BYD Zhengzhou Di Space, such as intricate design details.
Not only do these features make the projectors suitable for environments of various shapes and sizes, but their use also helps support BYD’s goal of creating a space that educates visitors about a sustainable automotive future. April Qin, senior sales director for Christie’s China Enterprise division, says “Christie’s technology brings BYD’s mission to life with every remarkable display.”
