Untold Festival Turns 10 with Elation and Apart Productions

Elation SŌL I Blinders, Proteus Hybrid and Proteus Hybrid Max fixtures deliver dynamic colour and depth to Untold Festival

Elation lighting fixtures took centre stage at the Untold Festival, one of Europe’s largest music festivals, in Romania. With more than 470,000 attendees and a lineup featuring Post Malone, Armin van Buuren and Martin Garrix, the milestone edition was celebrated with a production that blended folklore-inspired staging with advanced lighting.

Apart Productions, led by Andrei Predut, took charge of Untold's main stage lighting for the first time. In partnership with Bivolu and Zeedo, the team used Elation’s SŌL I Blinders and Proteus Hybrid fixtures to deliver stunning visuals.

Inspired by Romanian fairytales, the main stage featured a dragon motif brought to life with 130 SŌL I Blinders. The fixtures were arranged in a crisscross pattern to mimic scales, adding depth and motion through gradients and shifting colours. “We needed the dragon to come alive rather than just lay down a large brush of colour, which would have been a bit boring,” commented Predut, who supervised the main stage lighting team.

Meanwhile, 48 Proteus Hybrid fixtures formed a powerful crown of beams that filled the stadium, and 10 Proteus Hybrid Max fixtures delivered striking gobo textures. “We were a bit nervous because they were mounted in a place where there was no access to them, so reliability was a must,” Predut said. “We did not have any problems though, which was not true for all brands.”

Untold marked an important moment for Elation in Romania. Both Elation and Apart Productions were proud to have been showcased at one of the largest and most visible platforms in Eastern Europe.

In addtion to the SŌL I Blinders, Proteus Hybrid and Proteus Hybrid Max fixtures, Elation's Paragon lights are also making impact in live productions, such as Center Theatre Group’s modern Hamlet.
