Snapchat's immersive AR and exclusive content partnerships, bringing fans closer to the action through innovative technology and unique creator stories
As the Olympic Games kick off, Snapchat is making a grand entrance, offering fans a unique and immersive way to experience the events. For the first time, Snapchat is leveraging augmented reality (AR) and content partnerships to bring fans closer to the action, ensuring an Olympic experience like never before.
Augmented Reality Experiences
Snapchat has rolled out a range of AR experiences through both its platform and the official app of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. Utilising Snap’s AR Camera Kit technology, fans worldwide can enjoy Olympic data feeds, archival imagery, and more. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has launched a series of AR Lenses designed to connect fans with the Games, providing an interactive and engaging way to stay connected.
Arcadia, Snapchat’s AR Studio, has teamed up with NBCUniversal to deliver a suite of exciting AR experiences specifically for Gen Z fans in the US. These experiences include front-row views of the Opening Ceremony, personalised tune-in recommendations with real-time stats, and interactive introductions to Team USA athletes and their Bitmojis, including Team USA Paralympians.
Additionally, Coca-Cola and Snapchat are debuting the world’s first AR vending machine, located in the athletes’ village and Coca-Cola’s international Food Fest. This innovative vending machine, powered by a custom Snapchat AR mirror, offers photo ops, games, prizes, and, of course, Coca-Cola refreshments.
Exclusive Content and Creator Partnerships
In a groundbreaking move, Snapchat has partnered with NBCUniversal to bring creators to the Olympic Games, allowing them to capture and share their unique experiences and stories. Among the creators are LSU gymnast Livvy Dunne, reality star Harry Jowsey, professional streamer Kai Cenat, musical artist Enisa, and professional gamer Duke Dennis. They will cover a range of events, including the opening ceremony and Team USA competitions in basketball, gymnastics, and track & field.
Snapchat’s collaboration with NBCUniversal also ensures that official highlights, daily wrap-up shows, and behind-the-scenes content will be available on Snapchat throughout the Games. This partnership aims to provide fans with comprehensive coverage and exclusive insights, making the Olympic experience more accessible and engaging than ever.
Snapchat’s innovative use of AR and strategic content partnerships are set to redefine how fans experience the Olympic Games. By bringing fans closer to the action and offering unique, interactive content, Snapchat is ensuring that this summer’s Olympic Games will be unforgettable for audiences around the world.
