Shure Incorporated, a global leader in audio technology, is celebrating its 100th anniversary, marking a century of pioneering advancements
Shure began in 1925 in downtown Chicago, where S. N. Shure started selling radio parts. Less than a decade later, the company became one of the few US microphone manufacturers with the introduction of the Model 33N microphone.
Since its beginning, the company’s portfolio has grown to include wired and wireless microphones, conferencing and meeting solutions, and personal and professional listening products. Over its 100-year history, more than 50,000 different electronic products have been developed by Shure and sold in more than 120 countries worldwide.
Through the decades, the company has been used by notable luminaries such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., Elvis Presley and Nelson Mandela. Today, these products continue to be used by performers, content creators and industry professionals both onstage and offstage.

S. N. Shure laid the foundation for a century of innovation in audio technology
Shure is using its 100th anniversary to highlight some of its industry firsts and achievements. Shure has introduced several crucial products over the century, dating back to as early as 1937 with the company’s first phonograph cartridge, which helped to establish Shure within high-fidelity audio.
The Vagabond 88 Wireless Mic, released in 1953, demonstrates another pivotal moment for Shure as the first handheld microphone system to harness wireless technology before its widespread popularity. Building upon the technologies first explored by this product, the recent introduction of the Axient Digital Wireless System has set a new benchmark for wireless microphone performance with its interference detection and avoidance, quadversity and advanced connectivity options.
Shure has also developed some of the most recognisable microphones in the industry. The durable Shure SM58 microphone became an industry-standard in 1966 with a built-in pneumatic shock mount, designed for vocal performers, while the SM7B vocal microphone became renowned in the broadcasting, recording, and podcasting industries.
Beyond microphones, Shure’s experience in acoustics design and software innovation has produced other products like the AONIC line of Bluetooth headphones and professional content creation gear like the MV88+ Video Kit. the company also recently launched ShureCloud, a comprehensive cloud-based platform designed to streamline the management and monitoring of Shure products.

Shure products, like the Shure SM58 microphone, helped set industry standards
Four Core Values were established by the company’s founder, and today Shure Associates all over the world follow these important principles to ensure the company’s continued success. The Core Values have helped the company foster an environment of respect and honesty while manufacturing products known for their high quality.
To commemorate this historic milestone, Shure is launching a series of special activities and products throughout the anniversary year, including Shure Associate and customer celebrations.
