Step into The Traitors Live Experience in Covent Garden, where guests navigate missions and mind games under lighting designed by Elliot Griggs with White Light fixtures
Following the recent final of The Celebrity Traitors, visitors can now step into the world of the show in a London-based immersive experience. Participants can complete missions, face The Round Table and test their strategy, all with the goal of finding the Traitors. To bring the theatricality of the TV show to life, lighting designer Elliot Griggs approached White Light (WL) to supply the fixtures.
Lighting has played a pivotal role in shaping the experience, guiding guests through dimly lit corridors, past eerie portraits and suits of armour and into the high-tech Round Table rooms. “The Round Table is where much of the experience takes place, and so is the most technically advanced room in the experience,” said Elliot.
To meet the demands of this complex production, WL supplied a tailored range of fixtures. Over 120 Chauvet ColorDash Accent 3 units have been installed, providing precise control and dynamic effects. Additional Chauvet ColorDash H7X Pars, Slimbanks and Eve P160s fixtures have also been used to enhance colour rendering and create impactful photo opportunities, and, for the Round Table rooms, Elation KL Fresnel 4 FCs have been added to the rig.
Atmosphere, control and visual impact have been shaped by Le Maître hazers. Meanwhile, Obsidian Netron EN12 has provided data distribution, with Enttec Pixellator Minis and PLinks handling pixels. Overall the system has ran from an ETC EOS console. As Elliot noted, “Everything was selected for specific reasons – from the Le Maître hazers for their low fluid consumption, to the Netron EN12 for its remote triggering and recalls.”
The experience is now powered by Clockwork Dog’s COGS system, allowing actors to operate the show live via a custom tablet interface. This integration of lighting, sound and video has ensured that each game runs smoothly, with technical staff on hand only for support.
“The show itself is extremely technically complex, with eight games running simultaneously on one lighting console,” said Elliot. “Every player has their own ColorDash Accent 3 spot which tracks their progress, and almost every button and interaction in the room has some form of live response.”
Audience reactions so far have been overwhelmingly positive. WL’s fixtures are integral in sustaining the suspense throughout. The only thing visitors won’t know until they’re in the room is whether they come out Faithful – or are found out.
