Infiled and Blue Rhine Industries brought the world’s longest curved LED display to Dubai Fountain, turning a construction phase into a stunning digital spectacle
Set against the iconic backdrop of the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Fountain Boardwalk recently underwent major renovations. During construction, developer Emaar sought to preserve the area’s unique atmosphere. To do this, Emaar partnered with Blue Rhine Industries and Infiled to deliver a striking digital display that maintained visual interest throughout the six-month project.
Infiled, known for its work on the UAE Offlimits Festival, transformed the iconic Dubai Fountain promenade into an ambitious digital experience. Spanning 440m in length, the temporary LED display is now the longest digital screen in the world. Remarkably, it was designed, manufactured and installed in under 60 days.
John Joseph, director of Blue Rhine Industries, commented on the unique nature of this project, saying, “This is probably the most interesting project we’ve done in a long time. A digital hoarding of almost half a kilometre long isn’t something you hear about every day.”
The massive outdoor installation uses over 1254m² of INFiLED’s 3.9mm-pixel-pitch MV Series LED panels. Engineered specifically for the Middle East’s demanding climate, the MV Series is IP65-rated, fanless and optimised for low power consumption in high-temperature and high-humidity environments.
What began as a simple construction hoarding quickly evolved into a landmark digital installation. “Given the tight timeline, the production line at our headquarters in China prioritised the order,” said Samer Otaibi, Infiled's vice-president of sales for the Middle East. “We worked at full capacity to deliver the panels within three weeks. Shipments were sent in batches to keep the installation moving at pace – the moment one batch was installed, the next one arrived.”
Over 1000m² of Infiled panels were shipped to Dubai for a precise, curved digital display. The screen was supported by 494 custom concrete blocks installed with sub-centimetre accuracy. Its modular design allowed for quick setup and removal during renovations.
Eight teams worked nonstop, using advanced technology to deliver dynamic content, maintaining the Dubai Fountain’s prestige and showcasing Infiled and Blue Rhine Industries’ expertise in large-scale digital installations.
While the project will only remain in place for six months, the panels are intended for reuse at other Emaar properties, extending the lifecycle of the system and showcasing the flexibility of Infiled's technology.
